The City of Whitehorse Official Community Plan (OCP) is a land use document that is periodically reviewed and provides a vision for the physical layout of Whitehorse. The OCP is developed in consultation with residents to help ensure that Whitehorse grows in a responsible and sustainable manner.

2018-2019 OCP Review 

The Municipal Act gives municipalities the power to create an OCP, and also specifies that they must be reviewed within a regular period of time. Past Whitehorse OCPs have lasted approximately 8 years before needing review. City Council have allocated funds to Planning & Sustainability Services staff to conduct a review, starting in early fall 2018, with a target of finishing in 2019. Current planning work to be integrated into the next OCP

City staff have been working towards a 2018 OCP Review start for several years now, by arranging to have numerous relevant supporting documents complete in time to be integrated into the OCP review process. separately-funded pieces of work to be complete in time for integration into the OCP.
